do I search for the right cottage? |
First
select your country from the country list. This will change
the area options so you can select the area of interest.
You can then check the boxes to limit the search to properties
suitable for a specific category such as pets or families
and click search. At the bottom of the results list there
will be a number of options for you to refine your search
further should you need to.

| How
do I book a cottage? |
Preferred
Places simply helps you find the cottages. We are not
an agency and do not take bookings. You need to book directly
with the owners. You will find contact details via the
booking details button just above the photos on each ad.
Please don't send your requests to Preferred Places -
we will simply pass them on to the owner but this will
delay your enquiry and you may miss your booking.

| How
can I find out if the cottage is available for the dates
I want? |
Every
cottage has an availability calendar but unfortunately
not every owner updates it. You can soon see if they do
as the date boxes change colour to show booked dates so
a plain white calendar is likely to be unused. Some owners
use the calendars simply to display prices.
Available dates are displayed in green and dates where
the owners want to to check with them are white. Please
note it is the owners job to ensure this is correct and
we cannot take responsibility for disappointments. If
a date is shown as available then confirm it with the
owners.

| Can
you tell me which properties are available for my holiday? |
Please
don't send us a request for specific dates. We put all
the information we have on the site so if you can't find
something out then neither can we. You need to check with
owners regarding availability, prices etc.

| When
I open the availability calendar and click on a date it
just says "enquire"! |
An
increasing number of owners are using the calendars. If
a date is shown as enquire then it may be available and
you should check this with the owners. If every date says
enquire with no prices displayed then its likely that
the owner is not using the calendar. You'll need to ask
them about dates or check on their own website if they
have one.

do I make changes to my listing? |
Just
drop us an email or leave a telephone message with the
changes you want to make and we'll do it all for you.

do I update my availability calendar? |
| You
need a log in and password. Drop us an email and we'll
supply these. Then go to the owners
page and follow the instructions there. |
| I've
been entering my availability but its not begin saved. |
You
need to click on a date before entering the information.
Imagine the calendar as a series of boxes. Unless you
specify the box then the information doesn't know where
to go.

| When
I try update my listings I get an error message. What's
going wrong? |

The
two most common reasons for error messages are:
1) You've left out the price. You need to have something
here, even if you enter a "0".
2) You've got too much text in the text box. Delete
some and try again.

| I've
been sending test emails to myself but they've never arrived.
Is something wrong? |
| Make
sure you enter a valid email address in the box. As a
security setting emails will not be sent without a proper
email address. I it quite common when sending test messages
to simply enter "test" in all the boxes - however
you do still need to put an email address in or it will
not be sent from the system. |
